Hobby Lobby Opened....So What!
The protest over Hobby Lobby not paying for birth control was a failure. I'm not sure it was even a protest. There were 20 people with signs and 2 cops on bikes. Hobby was supposed to open at 9 am on Friday, when that didn't happen everyone went home. Hobby Opened at 3 pm with no protestors in sight.
Most of the protesters stayed around the pedestrian bridge on 130th and Aurora. These look like protestors from far away but when I zoomed in close this is what I saw.
We love Hobby Lobby and yet you want to boycott it too? I looked, I shopped, I bought something. Not a bad store, A little too Christian for my taste. What I did like about Hobby is they hired a lot of people, and starting wage was higher than the minimum. Where the store is it used to be a Kmart and then it stayed vacant for a long time. Maybe a Christianish store will improve the feel of the neighborhood.

Busker's Fest Seattle 2014
Is your money in envelope number two or number three?
Maybe it is in number one!
Number one is now roasting marshmallows.
The annual busker fest happened in Seattle this weekend. Not as many acts as I thought there would be. Lots of people, lots of dogs but little else. This guy above was a definite highlight.

Self-Portrait No. 1
I was looking at a book called Self-Portraits by Vivian Maier and thought I'd try my own self portrait. Vivian created a book of shots of her reflected in many surfaces. Vivian worked as a nanny. On her days off Vivian wandered around NYC with her camera looking for herself. I don't think she wanted anyone to see the pictures because almost all the film was found in her storage locker after she died. She didn't want to think of herself as a photographer, just a nanny who took pictures.
I've been reading books about photographers who see something of themselves in their photographs. Diane Arbus thought she was a freak and dirty so most of her photo were of people in the sex trade and retarded people.
Maybe that is what I do is wander around Seattle looking for myself. Maybe I am lost and only I can find me.
